team.blue is seeking 👀 a Backend Developer to join our BPA Team.

• We are the "Business Process Automation" unit, and as the name indicates, we prefer lazy developers who like generating code and automating tasks.
• We also build solutions and frameworks to help other business units automate their work.
• Among other things, we have built a framework that enables developers to generate pluggable microservices, which get automatically deployed to a modern infrastructure on Kubernetes.
• The microservices themselves are event-driven and communicate over Kafka.
• Additionally, we build and support core services and solutions such as authentication, authorization, billing, communication, etc., which are used by rest of the company.
  
  

What your day will look like👍🏻

• During the first month, you will get acquainted with your teammates as well as the code, and will work on a very focused assignment.
• In the next 2 months, you will start to expand your horizons to other parts of the project and participate by owning issues from the sprint board.
• In the following 3 months, you will propose improvements to the codebase based on your learning and observations thus far.
• As your understanding becomes better, you will take ownership of a sub-set of the project, and lead refinements and the subsequent implementations.
  
  

What you have👌🏻

• You are someone who's aware of their strengths and weaknesses, and not an all round Rockstar.
• You are opinionated and informed and are always informed about your opinions, but not stubborn and unreasonable.
• You enjoy taking responsibility, but are also comfortable trusting your teammates to get things done.
• You bring at least one new piece of expert knowledge to the table, but are also hungry to learn something from your teammates.
• You have practical programming experience in PHP/Symfony, or an OOP language, along with a good grasp of design patterns.
• You have a deep understanding of how the web works, and how to ensure that your code is secure and performant
• Proficient in English and/or Dutch.

You are well versed in at least one of the following:

• Microservices (experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Kafka is a plus)
• Python
• Web security
• Testing (Unit, Acceptance, Usability, Security, Performance)
